WS502 is a LoRaWAN smart wall switch for local and remote control of lights and electrical appliances.

It is widely used for wireless control of indoor lights, fans, heaters, machines, and so on.

It adopts the standard size of most kinds of international wall switches, so it can directly replace traditional wall switches. In the WS50x series of intelligent controllers, WS502 is a dual model with two push buttons.

WS502 can be monitored and controlled through a website or the mobile app and can also be activated by other Milesight sensors because it supports the Milesight LoRa D2D communication protocol to establish communication between devices without going through the gateway.

This intelligent switch allows traditional mechanical use, and thanks to its LoRaWAN wireless communication, the possibilities are endless. You can control from anywhere whatever you connect to the wall switch. Traditionally it will be a light bulb, but it can be any electrical device you attach. You need to have a gateway nearby to provide coverage.

Installation Considerations

There are two types of switches depending on whether they have a neutral wire or not (4 wires/3 wires). This product is the 3 wires variant (L, L1, L2). For the 4 wires variant (N, L, L1, L2) go to WS502-868M-3W.

We recommend installation with neutral wire for safety reasons. The problem is that traditional switch installations do not have a neutral wire because it is not necessary, at least in Spain. The solution is to bring a neutral from the nearest junction box. In case of wanting to use (or not having more choice) the installation without neutral, it is necessary to add a resistor in parallel to the bulb that feeds to eliminate the flicker that is produced. This flickering is a consequence of the power supply of the electronics of the wall switch feeding the bulb or bulbs it controls. This is eliminated with a capacitor. One drawback to being aware of when using this method is that the capacitors make a small humming noise that in total silence conditions can be annoying. Ask us if you have any questions!
