You have the choice between two types of motorized varifocal lenses. They automatically adjust for the best focus across different focal lengths, either 2.7 to 13.5mm or 3 to 10.5mm. The most popular lens is the 2.7mm, which we default to. As the focal length increases (or the lens becomes more "narrow"), it zooms in, often used to monitor specific areas like a door or counter. And because it's an optical zoom, the image quality remains superb across all aperture ranges.
Larger focal lengths cover distant areas but have a smaller viewing angle (see image). So, if you're monitoring a small area, a large angle and a small focal length would work well. However, if the area you're monitoring is extensive, a smaller angle and a larger focal length will yield better results.
Milesight's low-light technology combines improvements in optical components and digital processing to boost images under challenging light conditions. Starlight technology significantly delays the camera's switch to night vision, maintaining colored and sharp images when non-Starlight cameras would have already switched to black and white.
To improve nighttime vision, this camera incorporates an array of infrared LEDs. They essentially ensure high-quality images, durability, and energy efficiency.
You can't afford dark spots in security camera images where activities might go unnoticed. It's crucial that differences in illumination are compensated in the scene. The brightest and darkest areas are processed separately, so you don't miss out on any details in high-contrast conditions. This camera's Super WDR technology "balances" illumination in areas with differences of up to 120dB. The higher this number, the better the video in uneven light conditions.
Its chips with AI algorithms are capable of "seeing" what's happening in the image. It's as if the camera has a built-in 24/7 watchman that alerts you when something of interest happens. The actions it can carry out are diverse and easily configured through the user interface, greatly enhancing operational efficiency and keeping your security system always a step ahead.

This camera can accurately count the number of people entering or exiting. By defining polygonal areas in the configuration interface and counting over time, it starts generating reports and charts. It allows defining up to 4 independent detection areas for a better understanding of usage patterns in different video-surveilled zones. It's also a powerful tool for crowd management, displaying real-time occupancy and the maximum number of people allowed in a room on a screen.
This tool provides an image of the surveilled area overlaid with colors representing where people most frequently pass by and stay. This is especially useful for stores as it can help determine the level of exposure of aisles and greatly aid in deciding the spatial distribution of products for sale or their popularity.
Once the camera has been detecting people flow for a while, it will start generating graphs for spatial usage analysis. It has direct applications in stores and shopping centers, and can also be used, for instance, to redesign waiting rooms.
When talking about generating high-quality images, we have to discuss storing them on hard drives. To make this process efficient and keep images as long as legally required, all Milesight cameras are compatible with video compression formats H.265+/H.265(HEVC)/H.264+/H.264/MJPEG. This ensures high-quality video transmission while efficiently adapting to the available bandwidth.
The P-type iris offers improvements in contrast, clarity, resolution, and depth of field as it has a motor that precisely controls the iris's aperture. Having a good depth of field, where objects at different distances from the camera are simultaneously focused, is an important aspect in video surveillance of, for example, a long corridor or parking lot. It protects the privacy of individuals in the surveilled area by allowing you to set up to 8 privacy masks in areas that need to be protected, such as neighbors' properties, screens, or windows. You can also define regions of interest, which will record at a higher resolution in certain areas, leaving less important zones at a lower resolution to save bandwidth and storage.

From the camera base come the cables with power connections, PoE port, alarm input and output, and audio output. This simplifies cable organization and maintenance and makes installation quick.
